Council Meeting, Sports Day & Open Forum 2018
11 - 13 June 2018
WMSG is justly famous for its high standard of personnel tuition, their instructors are well used to passing on their expertise to shooting parties, from an experienced shot to a complete novice. The package prices all includes equipment hire, consumables, safety training and tuition. The morning’s shooting activities include archery and air rifles in a mixed session sponsored by Newport Industries Ltd. Registration is at 9:15 am at the WMSG where refreshments will be provided for participants. The afternoon’s activities start at 13:00 immediately after a lunch provided for all booked shooters in the cabin with Clay pigeon shooting and the Glue Gun Trophy again sponsored by Newport Industries Ltd. After a 50-bird afternoon competition, the shooting finishes with a final group Flush competition before heading off to Hawkstone Park Hotel for the croquet and the evening’s presentation dinner.
Croquet – BASA’s free to play event, The Omya Croquet Challenge Trophy, sponsored by Omya UK Ltd on the Croquet lawn next to the Terrace bar at Hawkstone Park, starting at 16.30 and weather permitting! Afternoon Golfers are advised that the 18-hole Glue Pot competition is unlikely to finish in time to take part in the croquet, although late arrivals will be accommodated where possible if the draw has not progressed beyond the first round. The terrace bar overlooks the croquet pitch so golfers usually join the shooters for the climax of the competition once their matches finish.
Guests round off the day with a superb 5-course dinner, with wine and liqueurs included, at our prize presentation evening to be held in the Waterloo and Wellington Suite.
Open Forum Meeting
“EU Exit Business and Technical Impacts for A&S manufacturers and their supply chain”
Wednesday 13 June 2017, Hawkstone Park Hotel & Golf Resort
The 1st Open Forum event of 2018 (and free to all BASA members) is being held the day after BASA’s popular Sports Day at the same venue. Members are encouraged to think about also attending Sports Day on Tuesday 13th June with the presentation dinner in the evening, but if you don’t wish to attend the sports day itself, and are coming along for the Open Forum, why not book to attend the dinner the night before and enjoy the networking opportunity this offers.
Our topics for the Open Industrial Forum Meeting are all centred around the impacts of the EU exit on both technical and business aspects relating to adhesives and sealants suppliers and their supply chain. The full programme details will be available closer to the day when speakers are confirmed.
All this and the traditional poster presentations from each of the BASA working groups means this is an event not to be missed, particularly as attendance at the Open Industrial Forum is FREE to MEMBERS.
Monday 11 June 2018, Hawkstone Park Hotel & Golf Resort
The Council Meeting will take place on the Monday before the Annual Sports Day in the Hill Suite at Hawkstone Park Hotel. The Council Meeting is arranged for current council members only and lunch is provided before the meeting starts. Council members are not charged to attend, although attendees need to book their own accommodation if they require overnight accommodation. Following the Council Meeting there is an informal dinner for Council Members and invited guests only, also at Hawkstone Park Hotel.
Annual Sports Day
Tuesday 12 June 2018, Hawkstone Park Hotel & Golf Resort
(Note: mixed shooting events take place at West Midlands Shooting Ground)
Hawkstone Park Golf has three of the finest Golf Courses in the West Midlands, and BASA Members booking the all-day package will get the opportunity to play on two of them, the Hawkstone Course and the Championship Course. They are situated in 400 acres of undulating parkland surrounding the ruins of a medieval castle with the cliffs of the world-famous 18th Century Follies providing a spectacular backdrop.
BASA’s all day golfers get to play on the Championship course in the morning’s 9 hole Texas scramble competition and the 18-hole gluepot trophy sponsored by IMCD will be played on the Hawkstone Course with the traditional nearest the Pin and longest drive competitions. Golfers should provide their own clubs as equipment is not part of the package prices.
The West Midlands Shooting Grounds have been established since 1934 and the grounds are situated just 13 miles North of Telford in the heart of Shropshire and a mere 3.4 mile 10 minute drive from Hawkstone Park, the venue for the golf and the evening presentation dinner. The ground itself has the appeal of the finest golf course; a maze of beautifully maintained paths lead you to the 80 plus stands, boasting over 200 clay pigeon traps of the finest sporting targets on offer in the UK today.
