Annual Sports Day 2017

Tuesday 13 June 2017

Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel & Golf Resort, Whitchurch

(Note: mixed shooting events take place at West Midlands Shooting Ground)

Golf at MacDonald Hill Valley Hotel & Spa. Stunningly located amidst acres of peaceful gardens, yet conveniently close to motorway networks, Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa is the perfect location for our BASA event, with relaxed country club ambience and stylish, modern interiors. There are 2 challenging and professionally designed courses and BASA’s all day golfers get to play on both with a Texas scramble competition in the morning and the 18-hole gluepot trophy sponsored by IMCD in the afternoon with the traditional nearest the Pin (12th) and longest drive (18th) competitions.

Shooting at the West Midlands Shooting Ground – hosts to the 2016 English Open and offering unrivalled competition in a woodland setting for the complete beginner to the experienced shot – includes equipment hire, consumables, safety training and tuition. The morning’s shooting activities include archery and air rifles in a mixed session sponsored by Newport Industries Ltd. Registration is at 9:15 am at the WMSG where refreshments will be provided for participants. The afternoon’s activities start at 13:00 immediately after a lunch provided for all booked shooters in the cabin with Clay pigeon shooting and the Glue Gun Trophy sponsored by Newport Industries Ltd. After a 50-bird afternoon competition, the shooting finishes with a final group Flush competition before heading off to the MacDonald Hill Valley Hotel for the croquet and evenings presentation dinner.

Croquet – BASA’s free to play event, The Omya Croquet Challenge Trophy, sponsored by Omya UK Ltd on the lawn of the MacDonald Hill valley Hotel & Spa, starting at 16.30 weather permitting! Golfers are advised that if their golf times over-run and they have selected to play then their scheduled opponent may be awarded a bye. Late arrivals will be accommodated where possible if the draw has not progressed beyond the first round.

Round off the day with a superb 5-course dinner, with wine and liqueurs included, at our prize presentation evening

Open Forum Meeting “The Business Costs of Regulations”

Wednesday 14 June 2017

Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel & Golf Resort, Whitchurch

The 1st Open Forum event of 2017 (and free to all BASA members) is being held the day after BASA’s popular Sports Day at the same venue – the MacDonald Hill Valley Hotel & Spa. Members are encouraged to think about also attending Sports Day on Tuesday 13th June with the presentation dinner in the evening, but if you don’t wish to attend the sports day itself, and are coming along for the Open Forum, why not book to attend the dinner the night before and enjoy the networking opportunity this offers.

Our topics for the Open Industrial Forum Meeting are all centred around the Business Costs and Consequences to Members of Current and Upcoming Regulations and we will be informing members about many regulatory changes that are expected in the run up to Brexit and are likely to impact most BASA members even when we leave the EU.

The full programme details will be available closer to the day when speakers are confirmed, however members will learn about: Poisons Centres, EPDs, Di-Isocyanate restrictions and training, reducing MIT consequences, REACH 2018 registration issues, the circular economy and dismantleability consequences for adhesives & sealants, Titanium Dioxide reclassification and more, so please don’t miss out on this valuable free resource and attend.

All this and the traditional poster presentations from each of the BASA working groups means this is an event not to be missed, particularly as attendance at the Open Industrial Forum is FREE to MEMBERS.
