AGM & Industry Lunch 2016
Monday 07 March 2016
National Space Centre, Leicester
The AGM in 2016 is to be held at the impressive National Space Centre in Leicester where we have exclusive use of the facility for our event. The National Space Centre is the UK’s largest attraction dedicated to space exploration and space science. It is an amazing building filled with rockets, satellites, Martian surfaces and other amazing artefacts. The building also houses experts and a full Space Communications team.
At the AGM itself there will be reports about the last 12 months including the presentation of the Accounts. There will also be the appointment of Officers, including a new Vice-Chairman, and several vacancies for Council members to be filled. Following the AGM there will be a selection of topical presentations followed by our industry lunch.
Our after-lunch speaker in 2016, thanks to the sponsorship support from one of the world’s leading suppliers of latices and emulsion polymers, Synthomer (UK) Limited, is the renowned Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock. Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock studied at Imperial College where she obtained her degree in Physics and her PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Since then she has spent her career to date making novel, bespoke instrumentation in both the industrial and academic environments. Managing multidisciplinary teams, these instruments have ranged from hand held land mine detectors to an optical subsystems for the James Webb Space Telescope, (The JWST is a joint ESA/NASA venture due to replace the Hubble Space Telescope around 2018).
